Completed: New Look A6262 Chambray Dress

I know it's not quite fall yet, but this dress is three years in the making and I am excited to show it off. With getting married, getting used to married life and my Etsy shop keeping me super busy, it has been hard to make anything for myself in a long while!

It all started when I saw this dress. I really loved how simple and cute it was! But I wasn't a fan of the maxi style, the dress seemed simple enough so I decided to make it without a pattern. That is where I went wrong. I tried building the bodice twice without a pattern, and I messed up both times. Finally, I decided that I would like to stop wasting so much fabric and used a pattern for the bodice. The skirt was a simple gathered skirt. There are many tutorials out there that show you how to make a gathered skirt, or you could also use the skirt pattern that comes with this dress pattern. I didn't because it seemed more time consuming. I also wanted to add pockets to mine, so I did that!

Jake's 8th Birthday!

My dog Jake turned 8 yesterday! We were going to have a doggy birthday party for him the Saturday before, but I got a migraine on Thursday night, which knocked me out for all of Friday and most of Saturday so getting ready for a party was not going to happen. I was super bummed because I had been planning this for a while!

Regardless, Jake's birthday was on Monday and I went over to my parents, made him a little cake and sang him happy birthday with the fam! Hopefully we will reschedule the party for sometime soon.

Jake was a present for my husband on our one year dating anniversary. I got him as a puppy and he was (still is) the cutest thing ever. He was tiny, and the fur on his face was black, and he couldn't walk straight. I remember when I went to pick him up, he greeted me at the door by barking at me. And barking is definitely what he does best. Jake loves to bark at everything.

In the past eight years, he has become a central part of my family. He is like a little person, who loves attention, but only when he asks for it. He loves to run and play with his teddy bear, he loves to go on car rides (even though after the car accident, he's not a fan of trucks), and he loves to wear cute clothes that call people's attention. Jake is truly his own little dog, and he fills our lives with so much happiness. I love this doggy so much and I am happy I get to be his dog mom forever.

Toby's 4th Gotcha Day

Toby was adopted from Front Street Shelter in Sacramento California on May 29th, 2013. Well, he was technically fostered on that day, but that's the day he left the shelter to his forever home so we celebrate it as his gotcha day every year.

May 29th, 2017 was no exception. We woke up late because it also happened to be Memorial Day and I had the day off. We had a schedule of activities planned for the day; first, put on the birthday bandana, then take a birthday walk, then come home and get ready to go see my family to continue the celebration, and on our way there we would stop at the Doggie Bag to get a doggie cookie, then we would go to Petsmart to get a birthday toy and then to McDonald's for the birthday plain McDouble, and then we would finally head to my family's place so that Toby could spend his day jumping (because we live on the second floor) and eating and being loved on.

The day didn't start exactly how we planned. I could not find his birthday bandana, so he ended up wearing one of his other bandanas on his birthday walk. While we were walking, we heard a lot of dogs say "Happy Birthday" to Toby as he walked by (or at least that's what we think they said haha)

Glitter Heart Wooden Sign

So I love Valentine's Day! It is one of my favorite "holidays." Growing up, I always celebrated it as a friendship day so it was never really about having a boyfriend or not. Now that I have an apartment of my own, I get to decorate however I want. This year I made a couple of decorations for our home. This glitter heart wood sign is one of them. It was my first time making anything glittery and I definitely learned a lot from my mistakes. It is kind of funky looking, but it works haha

First Christmas Tree Keepsake

If you are recently married, and just got your Christmas tree, consider saving a branch or two for this easy DIY project for the sentimental couple.

This will be our second Christmas, but before we threw last year's tree away, we made sure to save some branches from our Christmas tree so that we could make an ornament to keep forever. You don't have to wait a whole year to make this though, you can clip branches now and put this on your tree now.

A Thankful Heart

I am so so excited to be participating in Aleigh's "A Thankful Heart" link up. I love this idea and I am so excited to share some of the many things I am thankful for!

To be completely honest, this year was hard. My family went through a lot of bad experiences that left me wondering if I had much to be thankful for. In reality, I do have tons to be thankful for! My husband and I are very blessed and life is good for the most part. I am just so thankful for this opportunity to share the many many things I am grateful for, but I will start with a simple two.

Bunnies and Pumpkins

Last year when we got our pumpkin, Lucy was really into the pumpkin and Joey caught a cute pic of her so we decided to take pictures of our bunnies every year by the pumpkin. So here is our bunny photoshoot for your enjoyment!
